Drudge Report or The National Enquirer

Ya know the Drudge Report is like those trashy gossip magazines you see in the grocery store. You just can’t look away. You know who else can’t look away? Media elites

In a Salon article by Heather Digby Parton she quotes Mark Halprin and John Harris’ book “The Way to Win: Clinton, Bush, Rove and How to Take the White House” saying:

Matt Drudge rules our world ... With the exception of the Associated Press, there is no outlet other than the Drudge Report whose dispatches instantly can command the attention and energies of the most established newspapers and television newscasts.

Matt Drudge's site would direct readers to stories by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal. It can be assumed that reporters and management at these outlets know the views on their outlet will skyrocket if Drudge puts them up on his website. After all the guy is in second place in the U.S. Media Publisher Rankings.

Yet it is a bit odd that elite news outlets are vying for the attention of a man who publishes stories about Hillary Clinton having an affair with her long-time aid Huma Abedin. This man clearly knows that a story like this will get the clicks and mainstream outlets will gladly cater to have their articles put up beside ridiculous stories such as this one. I guess if these outlets gets clicks then it really doesn’t matter if they just happen to be next to pure bullshit.
