Activist or Journalist

In Journalism, Even when it’s titled by David Carr, Gleen Greenwald says, All Activists are not Journalists, but real journalists are activists.”

To me, if you are an activist means you are taking such a hard stance on one side that you will not hear the other side out. While in journalism school we have always been taught to remain object by presenting facts and not having an opinion. With this view you cannot always inflict change upon your audience. I thought the point of journalism was to get the audience to care about an injustice.

By being objective and staying middle I feel you would be stuck and not get anywhere. Wouldn’t someone want to challenge the injustices in our world and try to fix them?
